Thirty-three Ultra-Legendary paintings. One mast, one storm, and a single jar sent up for each. Nothing is destroyed. When the thirty-third is taken, the roof seals forever.
They built the Chamber to wake the dead, and for a while that was enough. Then someone climbed to the roof and found the mast already standing — taller than the drawings, humming before the sky had anything to say. The storm came for it the way a storm comes for the tallest thing in the field.
A crown is not minted here. It is taken. An invited hand sends one jar up the lightning mast; the jar comes back down unburned, unchanged, still theirs — but something has been decided in the strike, and a crown is cut loose from the storm with a name already on it. There are thirty-three names. There were never going to be thirty-four.
What follows is the catalogue of the roof: thirty-three who went up, or were always up there, waiting to be counted. This is the first telling. The full telling is coming — chamber by chamber, name by name.
